We ran 6 mile foremaster loop. I honestly didnt think i could run it all with how i have been running lately but i felt so great during this run. We did a 12 minute tempo during this run and i didnt have a watch so i went alot longer than i was supposed to.

  Did a workout today on the track that conisted of 60 seconds hard 4X with 3, 2, and 1 minute recoveries between. Harts warm and cool. I didn't feel to great but i had fun. It was good to kinda see where i am right now.

Today I ran 8 miles for the first time and felt great! Me and Aubrey ran from the highschool to my house and back with 10 minutes tempo. Super fun!

Ran 8 miles on the river trail today. One of the first times I have ran that much. We also included an 18 minute tempo. I was not feeling very good today. So I was pretty much alot slower than I am supposed to be. I ran by myself for most of it. I wish I had thought more positive.

Workout on the track: 4x1 mile repeats-hearts warm/cool. First mile I had a good start, hit the right time and felt good. the second and third miles I was way off! It was prolly because i was thinking negatively and not doing my best. The last one I gave it all I had and forced myself to stay with Liz the whole time-then I got closer to my time. overall, I wish I had pushed more and thought more positive. Which I will work on getting better at.

8 miles with 24 minutes tempo. I felt 10 times better today on the river trail run than last weeks 8 miles. I felt super good and i think i was running the right pace. I was running in between Liz and Taylor the whole time so they helped push me on both ends. I think I was running about the right tempo but Taylor had the watch. So I was prolly a little slower than I should have been. Weather felt so great!

 We ran 6 miles today to Greensprings. It was rather fun:) We crawled through a long dark tunnel that was scary but fun. During the run we included 2x1 min and 1x2 min fartleks. We ended with weights AND striders.

Today was my first Trail run i got to go to and it was so fun! The trail was called chuckwalla or something.  I was able to stay up near the front the whole time. I liked the course exept the 2.5 mile hill we had to go up. But then there was an awesome view! So it was worth it. :)

Me and Liz ran 6 miles to Green Springs again. It was a nice 6 miles in the rain! and we did a 20 minute tempo which I felt really great through but I was going a little too slow. It would really help me to have a watch! there was kinda a big gap between me and Liz during the tempo... i tried to keep up with her and was able to close the gap a little more later in the tempo. This week had mostly been pretty good for me except the track workouts- i am having kind of a hard time hitting my times. But its been a fun week :)

I love trail runs! we ran Temple Quairy trailhead and it was alot of fun. Super rocky and weedy though. I felt good throughout the whole thing but then it got really cold the last mile.

pm: Today's run was amazing yet so exhausting! We ran 8 miles on the river trail with 24 min. tempo.  I felt really good because I was able to keep a steady pace right behind Aubrey and Taylor the whole time! We kept about 7:15 min pace i think...I wanted to slow down so bad but with coach roberts running right next to me and encouraging me i couldn't and i am so glad i didnt. i am really glad he ran w/us. the last while though my breathing got super bad and i was literally wheezing! I was able to keep the same pace but my breathing was really discouraging. even though i wanted to slow down and catch my breath i didnt and that made me realize that i can do hard things and it is definitely worth it!

pm: workout on the track 4x1mile. I was supposed to be hitting 7 minutes because i missed last workout and didnt do so good the week before. My times werent very consistent....6:49, 7:05, 7:04, 7:13. I felt better than i thought though. on the first couple but the last two i was struggling. I had no energy I hope i can start doing better on these workouts. Weights after.

am: 3 at a faster pace

pm: 5 mile trail run on ice house run. It was a killer to my legs. we ran 1/2 to the hill and then ran about 1.1/2 to 2 miles up the steepest up hill ever! I walked a ton!! my legs hurt really bad the whole way up. Once we got to the 2.1/2 mile  I caught up with the others and we stuck together the whole way down. We did this cool thing where every 1/2 mile the girls would switch off leading. The rest of the way was downhill and it felt great. Really rocky but very fun the whole way back. My legs are still sore even though i have been good about stretching and rolling.

Jumped in with Aubrey and Liz on their warm up cuz me and mike were a little late. So i ran 1 mile warm up.

The race started unexpectedly and i placed myself with Aubrey. I felt like I was running at the right pace and felt great! We ran together and then caught up to liz the last mile. At the end we kinda spread out with liz finishing first then aubrey then me close. the course was a little long and I was kinda surprised with my time cuz i thought i was hitting my pace but it turns out i was much too slow. but i felt great and was happy that i stuck with aubrey and liz for the whole thing. It was fun and then we cooled down 1 mile.

pm: i missed the warm up because i came late and only ran 1/4 mile warm up. The time trial was 1 mile and i didnt really catch my time but i know it was between 6:20 and 6:26. But i was expecting to get at least 20 seconds faster. i was kinda upset with how i felt but its alright. Harts cool down.

pm: 8 mile river trail run with 30 min AT tempo- this run almost felt good but there were problems with my left leg...it hurt really bad if i tried to run a fast pace like stabbing pains in my shin. So i took it slower today so it wouldnt hurt as bad but it still did. ow...I have been stretching and rolling really good but i need to start icing so i dont get shin splints! we finished with weights and i added more weight to my leg lifts and squats today:)

pm: 6 miles to Green Springs! This run felt so nice for my legs. My left shin only hurt a little bit during the first part of the run. But it felt really good and at an easier pace. We went through the tunnel again :)

pm: 10x200's on the track at race pace with equal recovery- I was supposed to hit 48 but I felt like i wanted to go alot faster! I hit 44 on most of them and I never hit the right time. But it was a fun easy workout. My legs felt so much better except for the Harts warm up and cool down.  Weights went good afterwards and I put weights on the bar finallly!!:)

Mia, stoner, liz and I ran our 6 miler through the fields of washington on dirt trails and stuff. It felt soo nice and my legs felt really good. We also included 15 min LT pace and i think i did well on that. Great run!

pm: 1000's on the track today instead of 1600's! Harts warm up, 4x1000 with a few minutes of recovery. These felt so great! I did alot better on these than i do on the 1600's. I was supposed to hit 4:30. So we started and I felt so great and hit 4:02. Way too fast, so I slowed myself down alot and then hit 4:22, 4:21, 4:20. So i was really too fast but i still felt great after each one. Harts cool down- Great workout!

am: 3* -luckily the girls dont leave as early as the boys do so it wasnt hard for me to catch up to them when we came late.

pm: Workout 12x200's with equal recovery. I love 200's! I was supposed to hit 48...but its so hard to hit. Most of my splits were between 44-46. We took heart rates every 3 200's- 119, 112, 106. Pretty good. Harts warm/cool with track meeting afterwards.

pm: 3 miles easy to greensprings. my legs hurt but not as bad as yesterday. I just need to keep icing them. after we did long jump, discus, and javelin. I wasn't really good at any of them and I even hit the back of my head when i threw the javelin. it hurt.

am: Kosmin test- i did better than last time, but not by much. We had to run race pace for 60 sec 4 times with 3, 2, 1 min recoveries in between. I got 1353 meters i think. my legs are still hurting a little but not that bad. Harts warm/cool.

pm: Decathalon- we did shotput, high jump, 100 and 200 meter sprints. I was gone when we did the practice for these so i didnt know how to do them but i still did alright. Shotput: 11.5, 100 m: 16.59 i think, 200 m: 34. i had to leave during the high jump but it was fun! So i wasnt really good at anything but it was fun to try out new things!

am: cold 3* just me, mia, and jp. felt nice and sore from yesterday.

pm: Decathalon- Hurdles were dreadful! But only because I fell on the 2nd hurdle and slid on my stomach and skinned my hips, hands, and thighs really bad :( I was bleeding and had to go to Mark to get cleaned up. I finally got my friend macey to come to track but she also took a bad hit during hurdles too so she prolly wont be coming anymore....then i did discus, got 35 feet and long jump, 10.9 feet. 300 Hurdles i did okay even though i fell with a time of 1:05. I fit in 2 miles but i was hurting from the fall so didnt quite get 3. It was a fun day though :)

pm: i was debating whether or not i should run today but i did and it turned out okay. i was just really really sore. we did a workout of 10x400s. we ran a 1/2 mile warm up for some reason and then started our 400's. I was supposed to hit 1:36 and i got about 1:32 everytime. But the girls i ran with only did 6 so i ran my 7th with stoner and mia on their last one and the last 3 Mascarem ran with me:) she is awesome! then i cooled down just a mile. my heart rates were all under 120.

pm: Fire station hills! I did 8-They weren't as bad as i thought they'd be but my legs were stiff and hurting on the way there and first couple of hills but then they felt a ton better on the rest. On the first few i didn't do so great but then i noticed where i had trouble on the hill and made myself push through that and pace myself and it worked out great. These hills were fun to me and i usually dont like or do good on hill workouts. On the way back my legs felt fine and afterwards Mia gave me an awesome massage that felt great! :)

Old Man Hills- These were tough but was a really good workout. We had 3 sets of 800, 400, 200 without the 800 in the 3rd set. Taylor was a big help to push me and we did really good. Weights after.

4x800's- My goal time was 3:12. My times were 3:10, 3:12, 3:03, 3:03. I used Taylor and Jake alot to hit my times and this was the first workout that I actually pushed hard in a while. It felt good to have a hard workout and a goal that was kinda hard to reach. The first 2 were tough for me but then I heard coach say to embrace the pain cause your gonna feel it anyway so i did it and thought about that the last two and they felt great for me! Harts warm/cool, plyos.

I got my goal for the 800-2:51 but not for the 1600-6:11. But I PR'd in both and I am excited to keep working on meeting my goal for the 1600 in future track meets.

The races I participated in were the 1600, 800, and 400 in the medley. All these races were near the end, so I had one race after another and got tired really fast.

1600- I warmed up with Stoner for a while and we both started the race in the first heat. I was doing good but I really wished I could have ran it smarter which I know I could've. If I had gotten 8th place I would've scored a point for the team which would've been awesome  but didn't realize that until after. Overall  it was a good race and probably my favorite although I was hoping for sub 6.

800- After warming up with JP and Ali (who both did awesome but JP didnt get credit for getting first place!),  I started the 800 in the 2nd heat. I started out in 2nd behind a girl who started out way too fast. She died out in the last 200 and I passed her only to be passed and outsprinted at the end by the girl running behind me the whole time. My finishing time was 2:51. Also a PR. This was a fun race and it was cool to finish in the front :)

400- Coach decided to have me run the 400 medley this morning. Jp, Cierra, Stoner, and I practiced handing off the baton before it started and I was so tired I knew I wouldn't do very good on this 400. I didnt get my time but I knew i didnt do great but i gave it all I had. I like relays and it was fun working together as a team. We finished with 5 minutes.

For my first track meet it was pretty good and helped me set goals for future track meets.

pm: 4x1200's. I dont know why these were sooo hard for me! I wasnt hitting my times and I couldnt breathe. For the last couple of weeks my breathing has been super bad and I think it might be because I dont eat enough...My 300's after were about 7 seconds slower than last week. I am just happy I actually finished the workout. Harts warm/cool. On the bright side, I got athlete of the week for distance from the PV meet! :)

am: 10x200's. I like this workout because it pushes me, but isnt too hard. My time to hit was about 45-46 sec. The first 5 were all 43ish. The last 5 were 41-42. My leg was hurting but not too bad. Pizza Hut warm/cool

pm: 4 easy with 4x200's. Sandburgs again. I fell back for some of the run because I was really tired and couldnt get myself moving. 200's afterwards were alright.

I am excited for the mile tomorrow at the hurricane meet! I am not expecting to PR due to how I have been feeling lately but I am hoping to get close to it!

Race! This meet was pretty fun. When we got off the bus Stoner, Mia, Aubrey, Liz, and I all warmed up and stretched for the mile race. It was cool that we were all in the same heat. The hurricane track and field is super nice! I wasnt nervous for this race which is really unusual. I felt pretty confident cause I was feeling good. I started off pretty good passing girls on the first lap. The second lap I worked on keeping up with the fast group and staying ahead of the girls behind me. The third lap I really worked on pushing and felt good and caught up to Aubrey. Then the last lap girls started catching up to me so I went alot faster and outsprinted a fast girl in the last 200 and finished after Liz! So it was a great race and I felt good. I thought I beat my PR but i actually was a second off. I want to break 6:00 sooo bad! I know I can do it. It'll happen soon!

Met at the high school @ 8 for a 6-mile w/tempo. I was glad I didn't have to do 8. I did pretty good. For the first 10 minutes I was hitting my time right on, The last 10 minutes I was about 30 seconds off. My right leg was hurting but other than that it was pretty good. Plyos afterwards.

5 miles w/10 min. LT tempo. I ran with JP, Stoner, Mia, and Frida out in the fields of Washington. I love going on new runs! It was cool and at the end we did our tempo which I think I did good. I felt great and wasn't too far behind Mia during that. My right leg was hurting worse so i will be sure to ice and roll today.

am: 4x1000's with Harts warm/cool and 2x300's- I thought i was gonna feel awful because of all the candy i ate over the weekend. But I actually felt fine. I didn't know what time i was supposed to hit but I think it was around 4:06 or something. So I planned on keeping up with Aubrey.

The first one felt great and I tried to save my energy and got a 4:02. The next one I dont know why I went so slow. I felt like I was going the same as my first one but I guess I wasn't and got 4:15. Third I pushed harder and got 4:10. Last I went faster every 100 meters and got 4:00. My times were all over the place. I really think wearing a watch or timer will help me be more consistent so i am going to use one from now on. My legs hurt really bad but my breathing has gotten alot better. Then we did 2x300's and I hate those. I got :58, then :57. Weights after were great.

pm: 3 miles with stoner and liz. Legs were really tired.

pm: 8x400's, 1:30- times were 1:28, 1:30, 1:28, 1:30, 1:32, 1:30, 1:30, 1:31. I thought I was doing bad the whole time cuz i thought my time was 1:27. But it wasn't so it was good! So really good workout but it was tough. I felt like I didn't get enough recovery in between. My left Quad hurt the whole time. Hopefully it wont hurt too bad during the next couple meets. pm: Race- Mia, Liz, and I were in the same heat so we warmed up a couple miles and did agilities and stuff. We started and I got out pretty good but my starting could get better. My splits were about 1:28, 1:33, 1:33, 1:26. The finish was really good and I passed a couple girls in the last 200. Ended with 6 minutes flat. I was really happy with my time and I know I will break 6 soon!

3200 race: I was excited for this race because I knew I would PR. Stoner, Liz, Aubrey, and I warmed up a couple miles and Liz and Stoner raced first. Aubrey and I were in the next heat. I was really glad A rubreyan the 3200 because she pushed me soo much. She was a few steps in front of me the whole race which made me push harder. My splits were 1:22, 1:35, 1:38, 1:38, 1: 39, 1:42, 1:41, and 1:30. So they were right where I was hoping to be. I got 3rd in my heat and it was a fun and long race! I ended with 12:45, a PR by 24 seconds!

pm: warmed up, stretched, and went to the start. Aubrey, Taylor, and I were in the 2nd heat. This race felt really good but it was tough. Taylor and Aubrey pushed me alot to stay with them and I finished strong with 6:00.06. Splits were 1:28, 1:33, 1:33, 1:26. The last lap I had alot of energy and passed Taylor so I need to use some of that energy for my 2nd and 3rd lap cause thats where I go slowest. I PR'd by .8 seconds so it was a good race but I'm tired of that 6 min barrier and I am determined to and will break it!

pm: got there at about one and didnt race till about 8! So till then i just ate, kept warm and then warmed up and did agilities. I was ranked #7. 

I started off good and felt sooo great the first lap and got 1:23. Then the last lap I just moved up and kept moving getting past alot of people and finished .04 behind Aubrey finishing 4th! That lap was 1:22 and total was 2:45.

I PR'd by 6 seconds which was really good for me and I felt so great during the race that I feel I shouldve pushed harder so i actually hurt! I wasnt expecting to qualify but I was close! Hoping to get a great time in the 1600 tomorrow!

I was in the 2nd out of 3 Heats ranked #1. My goal was to break 6, possibly qualify for BYU. I was really nervous for this race while warming up with Liz and Aubrey and was worried cause it felt kinda hard to breathe in the higher elavation.

We started and my start was okay and I went up to the lead ending my first lap with 1:24-good. The 2nd lap I started slowing down, a couple more girls passed me and I shouldn't have let them. I ended that lap with a 1:34 which was awful. When I heard my time after the 2nd lap I realized how slow I was going, 8 seconds off of my goal pace. So the 3rd lap I started pushing harder going up to 3rd. Ended that lap with a 1:34 as well, also not good. Last lap I kicked alot harder and me and 2 others were fighting for 1st position. one of the girls slowed the last 200 and me and the canyon view girl sprinted to the end. I outsprinted her by .06 seconds, winning my heat and finishing with a time of 5:58! (last lap 1:26)

Afterwards, I was so out of breath that I had to lay down for a while to recover. I was really happy that I finally broke 6! My track season goal!  I didn't qualify for BYU, but maybe I wouldve in lower elavation. It was a fun race and I was happy with my time. This meet was alot of fun and made me realize why I love to run!

pm: 1600: Aubrey and I warmed up and prepared for the race. I didn't know what to expect, this being my first JV meet and It being super windy. That affected my race alot I think.  We started and I stuck behind Aubrey trying to push with her through the wind, my splits were 1:27, 1:38, 1:39, 1:24. The last lap I was able to pass all of the girls before the last stretch. I think I ran it pretty smart and although my time wasn't great, I still got 1st which was exciting:)

800: Coach wanted us to race in the 800 a little later and that was pretty good, splits were 1:24, 1:27. Ended with 2:51 which was an alright time.

pm: Ran 1600 and 3200 today. Both JV races.

1600: warmed up about 1.5 miles with Ali, Aubrey, and Taylor. Aubrey and I were ranked first and second. we started and Aubrey and I went right up to front pack. During the first and second lap all 4 of us were top 4. 3rd lap I started to pull ahead and by the 4th lap I had a good gap ahead. I didn't have as much energy for the last lap like I usually do because I used it to stay with Aubrey the first few laps. I finished strong with a 5:59. It was one second off my PR but I was really happy with this race and I felt I did my very best. Very fun.

3200: Couple hours later, Aubrey and I warmed up 1.5 miles. By then it was way cold and a little windy. Aubrey and I were ranked first and second in this too and this race was really cool cause Aubrey and I were side by side the whole 8 laps! We jumped right to the front and stayed up there the whole way. We kinda took turns leading and the last lap I got ahead but the last 100m she had a great kick and beat me by a second. Finished with a time of 13:03 which was weird cause I felt like we were going way faster. Coach said if we had other people to push us we wouldve PR'd. But oh well I actually enjoyed this race alot.

First 4 miler this summer! It felt super great for the first 2-3 miles through sandburgs but after that i started feeling like it was super long and slow. I stayed up with coach and Liz the whole time which was great! The runs are getting easier and easier everyday!!

Today we ran the 3-mile course at Bloomington north park which is prolly my least favorite xc course. Today's run was alot of fun and I tried working on my form alot. I hope I will have improved my form alot before xc season starts! I was sore afterwards, so I stretched really good.

Today was so great! We ran 1.5 mile warm up then a workout which was run as hard and far as you can for 6 minutes. I ran with Liz and she pushed me for the first couple laps, then I had a lot of energy and was able to take the lead of the last couple. I finished with 1423 meters! Not a very good day today:( Just before practice this morning I jammed my big toe tripping, and it hurt really bad the whole run. We ran 2 dirt laps and ali and I fell behind just a little bit the first lap and then the second lap I fell behind a lot more than I hoped. :/ It was disappointing. Afterwards was kids club which was fun, and the little girls are soo cute:) but it really hurt to run around some more on my toe after running.

Now my toe has a giant blood blister on it or something and it is super gross and hurts to step on. So sadly I cant run tomorrow or it will get worse. Just have to let it heal for a little while I guess.

Whew! Today was definitely tough! It felt so great though and was the hardest  I've pushed this summer. We ran 2 loops that included this long steep hill. We ran it pretty easy the first loop till the stretch to the hill. Then we picked up the pace. I stayed with Liz and Coach till the hill and that was really hard for me. But I made it:)

The 2nd loop I got a big side ache but pushed through it but it stayed the whole rest of the run which was annoying. But when it was time to pick up the pace I stayed behind Liz for a little and then she created a gap. But when Coach ran with me I pushed harder and caught up to Liz at the bottom of the hill. I ran with them the whole way up the hill!! It was super tough but it felt so great to be able to keep up with them! Also my toe didn't hurt one bit! Good day.

Today was so hard! I did the 15 min. VO2 max test thing while everyone else was doing repeats. I ran the whole time with Rachel Lusk and it was awesome that she stayed with me the whole time! I didn't feel good because I am still recovering from being sick and I haven't run for a week! :/ I was happy I didn't walk. So considering that I did pretty good. I don't know what I got exactly but I had a watch and it said 1.8. So about 1 mile and 1400 meters. I can't wait to get back in shape again although I am going to be gone the rest of the week. Because Michael's heading off hundreds of millions of miles away.... :( :(

Man, today was not too good....I was happy we did the grass runs cause those are my favorite but I was having a hard time keeping up with my group. The first mile I kept up with them good, the second was a struggle, and the third I fell behind but caught up again the last lap. Afterwards we did striders. I have never done so bad on those in my life! I feel like I am starting all over again with my training because I'm not in good shape. I will try my best to run while I am up north, it will be easier because Michael gave me his watch:)

Kids club was Fun today! It went by a lot faster than it usually does. And Brianna had to take half of the girls -about 10- to the bathroom:)

I had a hard time trying to make my run "hilly" but there was no hills around where I was so the best I could do was a few gradual hills. I ran 3 miles on gradual or no hills and ran to the Payson High Schcool track. There, I did some speed stuff just for fun, remembering the good ol' track times. Only a mile total there. I ran back and it ended up being .7 miles over. I went my own pace so it was a very fun run:)

am: 4.5- According to everyone else this workout was easy, but it was pretty hard for me. We did 3x1000's on the dirt mile. This was my first time doing it so I didn't have a time, so I just picked Liz's time to shoot for- 5:35. Getting under the time was really easy, but keeping up with Liz, Coach R., and the boys was harder. I did pretty good though I am still kinda out of shape.

pm: Easy 3- I have never sweated so much in my life!! It was super hot today and I felt like I was going to faint any second. We ran a perfect pace and I ran with my waterbottle for a while till it bugged me too much too carry it. So I stuck behind a bush and got it on the way back. Weights after went well, I felt weak.

Today was hard! But great! After 1 mile warm up, I did the 30/30 workout for the first time. I think I did pretty good! I got to 25, and was supposed to cover 119 meters each time. I hit my distance pretty well as we went on but on the recovery it was hard to cover the distance. I haven't done this before so it was kinda fun to challenge myself to more speed and to catch up with Liz. Then did 1/2 mile cool down with Liz. Good Day:)

First was 5:17, then went 20 seconds faster 4:57, 5:10, next was awful 5:26, and 5:05. On the last one I had "gonna fly now" from rocky balboa going through my head. I think it made me faster:)

pm: 3 miles arctic circle! I felt really great for most of it, despite the heat! Weights afterward and feelin good!

am: hardest workout of the summer for me! But it was way fun:) Down in heck's hole we ran 4x1 min and 4x30 sec repeats. except we had to do it on the super steep hill instead of the usual one. I did better than I thought I would, I focused on pumping my arms and driving my knees and that helped. I loved this workout once it was over! Then we ran 1/2 to add mileage and ran (actually walked) back up the steep hill.

pm: 3 hot miles and weights. I actually felt really good this run except that my legs were suuuper tight.

I was happy with how I ran today, lately I have been really frustrated because I feel like I can't keep up with the top girls like I used to. But Roberts told me I need to build my confidence and keep trying and then I will eventually be happy with where I am in my running.

Today was really tough for me....We met at the Pine view park and ran around the fields and staheli farm and stuff. 7 miles with 2 miles tempo. For the first 2.5 miles I fell way back but caught up when the group waited for me to start the tempo. I was going to turn around at the 5 mile turnaround, but decided I would be mad at myself later. From there I kept up with them for about 2.5 more miles but fell behind again during the tempo.  My legs were super sore and aching. I think it was from the hills yesterday, and I am also needing new shoes. And I went a wrong turn at the end when we added mileage but then caught myself and came back with a few of the girls:) whoops. Overall it was very hard for me, and I felt really slow. I ran at night with my sister for a couple miles, then my other sister while she rode her bike beside me while I ran. Oh, and Chandler tagged along too! I only ran 4 miles, because it got too dark to see. I took it easy, prolly a little too easy though.  But it was fun and I'm glad I got myself to run! Excited for camp!

am: 6x1000's on the dirt laps. Pretty hard but I felt really happy about my times. My goals were one: Be consistent, and two: hit all my times under 5:10. My times were pretty consistent and were all under 5:10! It was a good tough run.

pm: left for high altitude camp!! when we got there we ran a 4 miler. It was hard for me to keep up with the girls so I ran with Nicole.

high altitude camp AM: First 8 miler of the summer. This was prolly the best run I have done mentally and physically. I kept up with the faster girls nearly the whole time and I felt really good. The weather was great and it was really beautiful where we ran so I was pretty positive.

PM: 3 miles with the boys, but we didn't keep up with the boys for very long. It felt great, and then we jumped into the lake afterwards.

high altitude camp AM: 5 hilly miles. This run was really hard and long. 2.5 miles uphill really hurt my legs. Then we went 2.5 miles back downhill and that was a lot easier :)

 

PM: 3 miles, but felt like 5. It was on a narrow trail down into the bottom of the canyon. This was one of my favorite runs! I led the way downhill and it went really fast, it was pretty steep. Then we turned around and I helped lead the girls uphill. It was so steep and we all had to stop quite a bit. But we finally finished and it felt so great!! Despite usually being tough, trail runs are my most favorite!

High altitude camp: 4 miles on a really rocky road. This was tough but I did alright. The altitude never really bothered me. I felt like my breathing was great but my legs just hurt the most. And I noticed I need new shoes because I got 2 blisters!

The camp was super fun even though it was prolly the hardest week of runs ever!! But we learned so much about being better runners. My biggest goal is to be confident and to trust in myself because I personally feel that's what I need to work on the most. I am really excited for the season and hope to continue to be a better runner.

AM: today I felt grand! we did 6x1000's but had to hit 15-20 seconds faster than last week. So my time was about 4:50. My times were 4:51, :53, :50, :50, :46, :43. I was really happy with the consistency and how I was able to hit my goal time. Good workout:)

PM: 3 miles- felt very not good. I fell way behind mostly because I ate too close to the run, and my left leg started hurting in a way that I think I am getting shin splints:( Weights and plyos afterward.

Warmed up 1 mile and then did 1/1 workout, 1 min on, 1 min off. I had to hit about 235ish meters- 9.5 cones. I was really happy with how I did. I made it to the end -15- and felt great! I was hitting each one, with the right distance. It was a lot easier for me than the 30/30 workout. Then I cooled down 1/2 mile with Brianna and Macey. My shin only hurt on the warm up and the beginning of the workout, but felt fine after that. But I will ice and stretch good today so I will feel okay for the time trial tomorrow.

Kids club was great! Way fun to be able to do that this summer:) The little girls are so cute and fun! Later in the afternoon I got some new running shoes! They are legit:) I've had the same ones for way too long and that's the main reason I got shin splints and my calves have always been so tight.

I don't really know what to think about this time trial, but I know I gave it my best. We warmed up 1.5 miles then the girls started 2 minutes after the boys. The first lap was good, I ran with alli- man she's fast!- and we pushed eachother. The next lap we took turns leading, each pushing eachother. Then the last 800 she booked it and made a little gap on me but I also pushed harder. We caught up to Ali J, and sprinted to the finish. They both were super close and I finished 2 seconds after. It was a really good push and I was glad I got under 15 minutes. I did nearly 3 minutes better than my first time trial last year, and I got the exact same time as the last time trial last year. We cooled down 1.5 miles then I missed striders to go get my physical. I found out that I was low in iron and that is what has been causing me to be tired a lot. More broccoli for me!

am: 8 miles with 3 miles tempo. We ran on the river trail and we started our tempo at 2 miles in. I started pretty good, keeping up with the girls and we took turns leading the tempo every .5 mile. That really helps because then I prolly would fall behind.  I lead the tempo second and continued to keep up until the last mile of the tempo. First 2 miles were about 7-7:30 pace and my last mile was about 8 min pace cuz my left arch in my foot started to really hurt and I fell behind... And it hurt the rest of the run. But we grouped up again after the tempo and finished great! Overall, I kept up for longer than I thought! Good run:)

pm: 3 miles, felt pretty good but just sore calves. I was able to keep up for most of it while listening to Roberts, liz, and even dallen talk all funny:) haha, and coach biffed it. Weights and plyos after.

I was up at my ward campout which was around where we had xc camp. I got up and ran 3 miles with carli which was super fun cuz we were finding trails to run on and ran into a lot of hills and rocks. Our pace was pretty slow, but then I ran the last mile by myself and I went a few minutes faster pace. It felt soo good up there even though it was raining on me.

AM: I warmed up only half a mile cuz I started late and then we ddi 6x1000's at the high school. My goal time based off of last weeks time trial was 5:14. My times were 4:37- much too fast, 4:56, 5:09, :08, :09, :07. I didn't feel so good, I was just super tired, hopefully I will have more energy for the race tomorrow! 1.5 mile cool down.

PM: 3 miles. We went really really fast, even though coach wasn't there. But it felt good! I stayed up with the girls the WHOLE time!! yippee! Every time I fell back mia made me catch up with them again so that helped. It felt good except for I felt my shin splints again. I need to ice today so they don't hurt tomorrow. pm: race: girls warmed up about 2 miles, did agilities, and went to the start. The gun went off, but we took a couple seconds before we realized he had already shot it:) My goal was to keep up with ali and kaelie, since they are really good at pushing and working with eachother. And for the first mile and a half we had about 5 girls from our team together! Then some fell back and it was me, ali, and kaelie. We pushed eachother and ali pulled ahead and I made myself go with her and we eventually finished really close! In the end my kick was really bad, cause I cant sprint after 3 miles, but no one passed me so that's good:) I was 4 seconds off my best time, 22:24 but it was a Great race to start the season! Then I cooled down a mile with macey.

Ran 1.5 to harts with the girls. I already miss running with them :( but I turned around and its a good thing I did, cuz on the way back I was in deep pain. Afterwards I went into marks room and the girl trainer (I don't remember her name) e-stemed me, or whatever its called. I hope I can run this weekend!

I have drivers ed everyday after school now so I am going to go to morning runs once I can run.

This morning before school I went to marks again and he did ultra sound on me and heated my leg. Then he massaged it with this really hot minty stuff and it hurt sooooo bad! He loosened up all the knots in my shin and taped my left foot for more support. Then later i went to the running center and got some inserts to put in my shoes. They gave me a lot of advice and told me that my left arch needs a lot of support so hopefully that helps. I stretched, iced, and rolled and now I'm debating on trying to run again tomorrow... but man, shin splints are such a pain!!!

am: This morning I gave running a shot to see how I feel to decide whether I am gonna race tomorrow or not. We started running on the grass around the baseball field which I really liked and felt great on but the other girls didn't like it and decided to finish the last couple miles doing the di loop. So I ran a shorter loop and finished with Chancie doing 2 miles. I felt so wonderful, Only a little pain...

pm: I ran 2 miles and my shin hurt for the first half but felt good after that. then I tried a couple 200's which my shin didn't like so much. stretched and rolled after.

I ran the most mileage I have for a week! And I am going to race tomorrow so I don't have any high expectations, I am just glad I get to run in it :)

This race went pretty good! The varsity girls and i ran a couple miles warm up and my shin wasnt bugging me at all so i thought it would be a great race. After waiting forever to start we finally started and i got stuck right in the back. But then i found Mascerem and followed her through all the girls to a better spot.

First lap was great and i was so happy cuz i felt no pain in my legs AT ALL! Then i caught up to ali and pushed with her through the second lap. The last lap I started to kick in on the downhill and ended up passing a couple girls! I felt like i had been going a ton faster and thought i would break 22! I didn't but i pr'd by a minute from this course from last year! I liked this course alot although half was a slow incline and the other half was a slow downhill. I always got passed on the uphill but then i would pass  again on the downhill. The only thing that bugged me during the race was my breathing was super bad and i got a major sideache that i managed to ignore for most of it. But overall pretty good!

Warmed up 1 mile, and was hurting a little bit. But I wanted to run so i decided i would stop if my shin was hurting too bad. SO we started after the youngsters and boys and i went right up to the front. i was hoping to stick with ali. The first lap was hard, but i felt alright. I then caught up with ali but after the second lap she had to stop which meant i had no one to push with. The last 800 kaelie passed me on the hill and beat me by a second. My shin only really hurt up the hill and the final sprint at the end. Then i cooled down 1/2 mile. I got 30 seconds slower than the first time trial, but hey, at least i got to run it!

Drove up to AF today and once we got there we ran the state course. I like the course alot and can tell that it goes by fast. I ran the most i have at once for a week. I was feeling pretty good the first mile and then my legs hurt really bad. everywhere. at first it was random stabbing pains in weird places. Then i fell behind and my calves tightened up super bad all the sudden and ached. It hurt with every step and i had to stop and walk and was on the verge of tears:/ afterwards i stretched really good which felt nice and rolled alot.

Super nervous this morning!! after how i felt on yesterdays run i was really worried for how i would feel for the race. But good thing it was only 2 miles! I warmed up a couple miles and i felt good except for my calves felt super achy and sore. right before i went to line up for the race i took off my compression sleeves. That did the trick! Then i was able to walk over there with no tightness so apparently the sleeves were suffocating my legs and making them hurt!

i was the 5th and last leg for the relay. I had to wait a while as i cheered on liz, mia, alli, and ali who all did really good. Ali did a great hand off to me and i started out strong with desert hills rachel slade following a little bit after. The girls helped me alot with their cheering and i made sure to surge on the downhill. On the uphill, rachel slade caught up to me and i stepped up to a little bit of a quicker pace to stay with her. I think she really helped me push myself past my limits because she made me go with her at a faster pace than i wouldve been going. i stayed with her for almost a 1/2 mile i think and then she passed and i just aimed to keep her in my sight. It was alot of fun with the hay bails and especially because it was made into a relay which made me run for the team more than for myself. Very happy with how i did and my legs didnt hurt at all!!

Today was so great! I was super excited to start really running again! I did 3x1000's. I didn't have a goal time, even though i ran the time trial?? but i got a second after kaelie so i went with her time - 5:16. Warmed up 1.5 miles then and times for the K's were 4:41, 4:51, 4:54, around there. Irene rolled my legs out- felt awesome!- then i ran a cool down with alli and josie. 

Later we did the car wash fundraiser which was pretty fun! We had lotsa cars and lotsa help.

Varsity girls/guys missed school on friday to go to herriman. About 2ish we ran the state course which was alot better than last time we ran it! I felt okay... I fell a little behind but not too bad.

Race: we ended up missing our race :/ bummer. So we ran the JV race! warmed up about a mile and then went up the the start. First half mile was awful. I wish i had started out faster! I got boxed in and couldnt get up where i wanted till we were in almost a mile. My pace was really off there. But finally i got into 3rd place and made a gap on everyone else behind me. I focused on catching up to mia and the girl behind her. Never happened. First mile was just under 8 minutes. The second had more downhill and i got just under 15 minutes. Right after the 2nd mile was the mutha cussa. I was able to get up it fine, but the second i reached the top my legs were dead. The last mile dragged on and my legs felt really heavy. But luckily no one passed me. The last 1/2 mile i really tried to make myself push harder to possibly get 2nd behind mia but i couldnt make myself go any faster. Finished third with 24:50- which surprised me, but it was super muddy and hilly so i guess it makes sense. But overalll it was sooo fun! I love trail runs and so that help me be positive and to have fun and not worry which helped alot. The mud made it fun too:) and my shins didnt hurt AT ALL and my breathing was good. After the races we had awards, i got a cool bag, I wish every race was like this one.

I ran a whole mile:) First time running for a month and a half! Got taped, ran a mile w/Irene, then iced and got e-stemmed. I felt pretty great while i ran for the most part! Except i was really out of breath and worn out at the end...which was embarrassing cuz it was only 1 mile! Just shows how out of shape i am!

Lets just say this was officially the worst race i've ever had. I was really having a hard time today. But i am getting over it knowing that i havent run for about 8 weeks and am completely out of shape. But the good thing is that my legs felt wonderful and i didnt get last place in the varsity race:) and its good to know that its not my legs that are keeping me from going but just the fact that I havent trained for a while. so theres still hope for a good track season! And i am really glad that our girls varsity team did so good!! along with the rest of our team!

Went up to AF for the race tomorrow. Ran a wonderful nice 3 miles through a creepy graveyard at night! I felt so good the whole time i was really surprised! The only bad thing was that my knee was hurting a little which was weird cuz i've never had knee problems before. Turned out it hurt the whole night and the next day really bad :/ darn.

Got myself to run 2 miles but then stopped cuz my shin had started hurting. felt good to run again though.

Don't stress about your shin. With the break you have taken it has to be healed. Just take the runs nice and easy, keep the distance down (2-3) and run each day and you'll get your trust back.

It took forever for me to get myself to go on a run but eventually I did. 2 good miles that felt wonderful. I'm thankful for Mike's Garmin. And I am loving the weather!

Ran 2 slow easy miles with Jacey then she left and I ran a quick 1.5.  My shin did hurt the last couple miles :/ Stretching and rolling.
